The Wauwatosa Government Affairs Committee voted unanimously March 11 to recommend approval of a Class B beer and Class C wine license for Bridal Life LLC doing business as Local Makerie, 2289 Lonnington Avenue, with Timothy Walsh listed as agent. Committee members moved the item to the full common council for final action.
The license application covers on-site service of beer and wine limited to the indoor room where hands-on craft workshops are held and only during class hours, according to the premises description in the packet. Staff said inspections and background checks were completed and departments raised no objections; development staff concluded the proposed use is allowed as a personal-service use under existing zoning.
Timothy Walsh, the applicant and agent, told the committee, "We're a local teaching space... we're trying to educate individuals in different hobbies," and said organizers "would love to be able to offer" beer and wine during classes. Committee members asked whether outdoor or patio service was planned; Walsh said no outdoor space exists now and that any future patio would require separate permits and a return to the committee.
Alder Phillips moved approval; Alder Wilkie seconded. The chair called the motion and recorded unanimous support; the committee forwarded the recommendation to the common council.
The approval applies only to the license described in the application packet and to the limits in the premises description. Any change to the premises description or addition of outdoor service would require further review and approval before alcohol could be served outside the described room or outside class hours.
