Ferron to use Emery County for ballot printing and counting under proposed contract

A staff member told the council Emery County "does it for us" ' sending out ballots, staffing ballot boxes and counting results. The contract covers the mayoral and two council seats on this year's ballot, the staff member said.
The staff member estimated the cost to print each ballot for this election will range from $1.75 to $2.00 per ballot, which she said is slightly higher than the prior estimate of $1.65 to $1.95. "As with everything," the staff member said, "the cost for printing the ballots will range from $1.75 to $2 per ballot." She added that, despite slightly higher unit costs, the arrangement saves time for local staff.
Council members did not take a roll-call vote on the contract at the meeting; the staff member said the city only needs to sign the agreement with Emery County to proceed. No contract amount or formal appropriation was recorded in the minutes.
