ASBSD representative briefs Aberdeen board on several state bills; district CFO announces resignation

Miss Ralhelm told the board that House Bill 1093, described in her remarks as addressing school board election dates, "has passed the House and is in Senate Education." She also discussed House Bill 1020—the voucher bill—and said it was defeated last week, though she said portions could be folded into a so-called vehicle bill and reappear later in the session. "There is a good possibility I think that that bill could be phased into what's called a vehicle bill," she said.
Separately in her remarks Ralhelm said a bill related to school board election dates was defeated in the House that afternoon by a vote she reported as 37 to 31; she described that result as "a win for public schools." The transcript references multiple bills and used slightly different bill numbers in separate places; Ralhelm framed the status of those measures as fluid and cautioned the board that vehicle bills can carry language from previously defeated measures.
Ralhelm also announced that Holly Nagel, ASBSD chief financial officer and director of protective trust services, has resigned and will remain available through Feb. 28 and possibly into March to assist with transition. "Holly's gonna go back to a position near her home in Chamberlain where she'll do some administration work," Ralhelm said.
