Greater Things Ministry honored for partnership with Clover School District

Charles Govan, president of the South Carolina School Boards Association, on Monday presented the SCSBA Champions for Public Education award to Greater Things Ministry for its ongoing partnership with Clover School District.
The award recognizes businesses, nonprofit organizations and individuals that contribute to public schools. SCSBA Region 13 Director Scott Childers also attended the presentation and described the ministry’s work with district officials.
The association’s citation cited several specific efforts by Greater Things Ministry, led by Pastor Ray Scott: organizing a coalition of churches and businesses that distributed 500 stuffed book bags this year and committing to distribute 600 next year; providing 200 pairs of tennis shoes after a local nonprofit dissolved; delivering tricycles for a preschool program; facilitating a bridge-beautification project; and arranging a covered waiting area for students using a donated shelter when they faced rain.
"This partnership displays your dedication and commitment to the success of public school children," Govan said while presenting the award. "The link between Greater Things Ministry and the school district serves as a model for others to exemplify and follow."
Pastor Ray Scott accepted the award and spoke about his motivation. "Jesus Christ and his shed blood changed my life, and that's why I do what I do," Scott said. He urged community members to contact the ministry if students lack basic needs such as shoes or backpacks.
Superintendent Dr. Quinn and Board Chair Rob Wallace joined the presenters at the front of the meeting for the recognition. No formal board action or vote accompanied the presentation; the award was ceremonial and aimed at acknowledging community support for the district.
The district and SCSBA officials praised the partnership as an example of faith-based and business involvement in local education needs, and district staff said the ministries’ time and materials have a direct positive impact on students.
