Quincy City board approves race permit, liquor permits, restaurant license, name change and license pledge

Quincy City Board of License Commissioners on March 11 approved a package of permits and routine licensing actions, including a special-use permit for an April 26 5K run, a one-day liquor license for a YMCA fundraising event, a common victualer license for a new Mediterranean restaurant, a business name change for a Furnace Brook venue, and the pledge of a wine-and-malt restaurant license to a bank.

The actions were taken at a meeting with a full quorum present; the board conducted the business as an agenda block and approved each item by voice vote with no extended discussion.

Interfaith Social Services: special-use permit for Stop the Stigma 5K Interfaith Social Services received approval for a special-use permit for its annual Stop the Stigma 5K, scheduled for Saturday, April 26, with a 9:30 a.m. start and finish at 440 East Quantum Street at the Kennedy Center. The applicant said the event raises awareness of mental illness and addiction and raises funds for Interfaith’s mental health counseling center; the group said last year’s event drew about 800 participants and it expects a comparable turnout this year. The board approved the permit by voice vote.
