ZBA schedules site walk, continues Chelmsford Hooksett property variance hearing to March 25

John Cronin, counsel for the applicant, said the applicant and its witnesses were prepared to provide traffic and sidewalk information and requested a dedicated hearing night due to the complexity of the case and the number of witnesses. The applicant offered to show the board several comparable adaptive-reuse projects and to take the board inside an existing building to demonstrate unit layouts and conversion results. The board agreed a site walk would help board members visualize the project; it cautioned participants to exercise care because some vacant buildings can have hazards. The board motioned and voted to hold the site walk and to continue the public hearing to March 25 at 6:30 p.m.
Why it matters: Board members decided an on-site inspection would aid review of a variance to permit residential use in a MUD-1 zoning district and sidewalk/site improvements; the site inspection and dedicated hearing night are intended to allow a fuller presentation and give residents an opportunity to be heard.
