The Leesburg Town Council on March 11 voted to conditionally approve water and sanitary sewer extensions to serve a new Loudoun County General Services building in Tuscarora Crossing Land Bay 4, and approved routine procedural items including minutes, the meeting agenda and several appointments.
Council moved quickly through routine business before taking up the Loudoun County request. Council member Michael Cummings moved to "reconsider and approve the draft resolution for conditional approval of water and sanitary sewer extensions for the new Loudoun County General Services Building in Tuscarora Crossing Land Bay 4." The motion was seconded by Council member Krakowski and carried with council assent.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved work session minutes for Feb. 24 (recorded with an abstention), adopted regular session minutes for Feb. 25, and adopted the meeting agenda. The consent agenda — which included a change order for an upgrade to the water treatment plant programmable logic controller and banners for the Arts and Cultural District — was approved by council.
The council also filled two volunteer seats. Casey Caster was appointed to the Environmental Advisory Commission and Matt Stur Spurgeon was appointed to the Technology, Communications and Communications Commission; both appointments passed without recorded opposition.
Mayor Kelly Burke and council members did not expand further on the conditional approval for Loudoun County during the meeting, though Council member Cummings said he had discussed the project with county leadership and urged cooperation between the town and county.
