Rotary Club representative asks Pflugerville to cover Austin Public Health fees for Wild West Brewfest

During the public-comment period on March 11, Eli Alborn, representing the Rotary Club of Pflugerville and the Wild West Brewfest, asked the City Council to continue financial support that helped the festival offset Austin Public Health (APH) booth fees in 2024 and to again cover those fees for the coming event.
Alborn said the APH fee charges $280 per booth and that food vendors permitted by Travis County still must pay the additional APH fee to appear at the Brewfest; he told council those fees reduce the festival’s charitable proceeds that are directed back into the community. Alborn also asked that the city continue to fund FetchaRide (a responsible-ride service) to maintain safety and accessibility at the festival.
Alborn said the Rotary lowered ticket prices and introduced a la carte options to improve affordability and that the festival draws visitors from across Texas and from several other states, supporting local hotels, restaurants and shops. He said the event is largely volunteer-run and that proceeds support local charities.
The mayor declined to take questions during public comment in accordance with meeting rules, and no action was taken during the meeting on the request. Alborn said he looked forward to continued support and offered to answer questions if appropriate.
