Players from the Wenatchee High School softball team spoke to the board on March 11 to thank the district for the new softball field and to describe how the facility has improved safety and team experience.
Students said the new field eliminated hazards they had faced on the temporary surface — such as potholes and rocks — made sliding and diving safer and allowed the team to host more home games rather than traveling to other districts. Players told the board the improved facility made the program feel more supported and encouraged more students to try out.
Coaches and school leaders said a ribbon-cutting event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, and board members praised the student remarks at the meeting. Students, speaking as a group, also described the field’s impact on team morale and the added opportunities for hosting competitions.
The board acknowledged the district’s broader extracurricular investments and celebrated recent student achievements across sports and performing arts during the superintendent’s and board members’ reports.
