City, consultants outline public-involvement plan for Naples 2045 comprehensive plan update

Consultants reported preliminary website metrics: several hundred views and an early set of 10 comments and 225 subscriptions as the site went live. - Two rounds of community workshops: Johnson proposes two rounds of public workshops (two locations per round) to gather vision/conditions input and to review draft recommendations. Consultants suggested venues such as the Norris Center, First Presbyterian and local community centers and said they would coordinate public notices with city communications. - Targeted outreach and surveys: CMA will work with the city to reach homeowners associations, business districts and underrepresented neighborhoods, using postcards, email lists, public-service notices and neighborhood flyers. Council members emphasized scheduling constraints for fall workshops, urged the team to coordinate meeting dates with local HOA and candidate forums, and asked for careful attention to sample design and survey validation. Some councilors said they preferred neighborhood-level outreach to develop borough-style "neighborhood action" priorities in addition to the citywide plan.
Next steps: Johnson Engineering will proceed with staged community outreach, calibrate traffic and infrastructure data and present draft policy alternatives later in the year. The consultants will return to PAB and council in the fall for workshop feedback before formal draft amendments are prepared.
