Committee recommends reclassification of county board office sustainability coordinator role to policy analyst

Chair Miles explained the classification change followed the recent hire of Lisa McKinnon to a policy outreach and communications manager role. "When we redesigned that management position, it included some of the responsibilities that she has now," Miles said, and the vacancy left by McKinnon's move better fits a P-level classification. The reclassification reduces the role from an M-level to a P-10 level, and supervisors were told the change slightly lowers compensation for the role.
Supervisors discussed whether sustainability responsibilities would remain available to the board office. Miles and others said sustainability work has been institutionalized in other county offices — including the newly formed Office of Energy and Climate Change — while the board office will retain access to expertise for evaluation and policy questions.
The committee moved and approved the reclassification recommendation for transmission to the full County Board.
