Sweet Home School District celebrates graduates; longtime board member honored

Board members and staff credited staff members for major fundraising and logistical efforts that produced scholarships and supported students; one board member said the group collectively secured nearly $2 million in scholarship offers for students.
Certified and classified representative Steve praised high school and junior-high staff for their handling of serious incidents this year and also celebrated graduation logistics and fundraising. Several speakers singled out Kristin Adams for her role helping students find and apply for scholarships and credited the event volunteers for raising substantial funds. A board member noted that an individual student received a full scholarship package worth $224,000 for four years.
The meeting also recognized long-serving board members and staff. The board presented tokens of appreciation to Sarah Hoffman (four years on the board), Jim (eight years) and Jason, who was recognized for 20 years of service. Lisa Latham was also acknowledged; the meeting was noted as her final board meeting. Speakers repeatedly thanked the departing members for their service and encouraged future board candidates to step forward.
Board members reflected on the district's enrollment trend, with Terry reporting the district's enrollment was down one student from the prior month and noting continuing outreach and marketing to highlight district programs. The board encouraged principals and staff to continue promoting district strengths to parents and the community.
Board members and staff closed the recognition remarks and proceeded to the budget hearing and business items.
