Committee approves memorandum of agreement on new high-school duties for teachers

The school committee on June 12 approved a memorandum of agreement (MOU) with the Acton Boxborough Education Association that defines additional duties for high school teachers beginning in the next school year and identifies time-related accommodations to offset added responsibilities.
Andrew, a district staff member who presented the MOU, said the agreement was negotiated with high school ABA representatives and centers on scheduling and time allocations to address added duties. "We discussed some ideas to mitigate some of the additional elements of their role...and as a result of that, came to an agreement around some other features of their school day and their work responsibilities," Andrew said.
The motion to accept the MOU was moved by Liz and seconded by Tory and passed unanimously. The administration said the changes will be implemented with timeline adjustments and that human resources will finalize the duty schedule for the start of the school year.
