Morris said the office gives property owners a short statutory window to correct problems and will move more quickly when they do not comply. “We have to give them 7 days to come in compliance with any more violations, sometimes 7, sometimes 10,” Morris said. He described follow-up steps including contractor cleanup, filing administrative fees and pursuing claims against property owners so costs can be recovered if a property is sold or refinanced.
