Plan Commission to reconvene with consultant on zoning and subdivision code rewrite; dates under consideration

City planning staff told the Plan Commission on June 2 that the zoning and subdivision ordinance rewrite is moving into a follow‑up phase and that the city’s consultant will return to address questions raised by commissioners about proposed zone districts and dimensional standards.

Staff said the follow‑up presentation will use site‑specific examples to show how proposed new district classifications (for example the differences between existing R‑1 and proposed R‑1) would apply to city lots, and will demonstrate how consolidated commercial/business districts and proposed mixed‑use allowances would operate. "This presentation will, again, be limited to circling back to the variety of questions that the commission and others posed at their last meeting because I think there's a lot of ground to cover. We will not be introducing new material," city planning staff said.

Commissioners discussed scheduling options; staff suggested June 23, July 7 or July 21 as potential dates and said they will check the consultant’s availability and report back. Commissioners indicated a preference for a date after the July 4 holiday so the commission and consultant have time to review materials; staff said the presentation materials will be distributed in advance to allow commissioners to prepare specific questions.

No formal action was taken; staff will follow up with commission members and the consultant to finalize the meeting date and circulate presentation materials in advance.
