BDAP updates: two board vacancies open, new city economic development officer starting June 30

City staff said two BDAP vacancies exist following recent resignations (Ryan Andrews and a representative from Lonza) and that recruitment is open through June 30. The positions are mayoral appointments; appointed members would take their seats in July and begin meeting in August. City staff encouraged panel members to share the recruitment notice widely.
Staff announced that Katie will begin as the city’s first economic development officer on June 30 and noted that the city is no longer a team of one for economic development. Panel members and staff said they expect increased engagement as Invest Bend and other economic projects move forward.
Council briefings reported that the council is organizing a housing work group to identify subsidies and incentives intended to help the city achieve a long-term housing goal. The council will also bring a sizable transit update, a fee schedule resolution and a public hearing on development-code changes related to housing (ADUs, row houses). The city’s point-in-time count showed Bend’s sheltered and unsheltered numbers remained largely stable over a two-year period, staff said.
No formal votes were taken on these administrative items; the session’s final scheduled action was the Visit Bend budget approval earlier in the meeting.
