Mayor Ron Jensen announced a slate of summer community activities during his June 2025 message, including park concerts, family movies, nature programming, library reading incentives and mayor-organized events.
The summer concert series begins June 12 at Lamb Creek Park, the mayor said. Family-friendly movies on the beach at Lloyd Park start June 20. The GP Nature Club is set to begin June 28 and is aimed at developing a deeper appreciation for the environment, the mayor said. Grand Prairie Libraries’ summer reading club will continue through the summer; children can earn prizes for every five hours read, and teens and adults are eligible for prize drawings, the mayor said.
The mayor also invited residents to two mayor-led events: a mayor’s 5K and health fair at the Farmers Market on Saturday, June 7 — the health fair begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K at 10 a.m. — and a “cycling with the mayor” bike ride on Thursday, June 19 at Action Skate Park next to Lone Star Park, with participants gathering at 6 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. start. The mayor said “everybody is welcome.”
The mayor provided grandfundgp.com for details on park events and gptx.org/library for the library program. He did not provide participation caps, registration requirements, or vendor/partner details in the message.
