TESD facilities update: HVAC, classroom modifications and Bear Hill bidding; redistricting committee to start

The Tredyffrin‑Easttown School District's facilities committee on May 13 and reported to the full board on May 27 that several summer infrastructure projects remain on schedule and that preparations are underway for Bear Hill Elementary School construction and the district's redistricting work.
Contract and project updates presented to the board included: HVAC renovations for Beaumont, New Eagle, Tredyffrin‑Easttown Middle and Conestoga are scheduled to begin after the school year, with a start date at the end of day on June 19; interior and exterior renovations at multiple elementary schools and the middle school are likewise on track. The board approved three change orders for Tredyffrin‑East Middle School library/classroom modifications, with a cost commitment of about $241,000 to repurpose and construct additional classroom space.
District staff reported that the final phase of network distribution frame upgrades at Beaumont, Hillside and the district maintenance building was awarded to JW Carrigan, the lowest bidder, with a contract of about $151,600. Athletic‑field construction continues with stormwater basins, drainage lines and foundation work under way; a project video remains available on the district website for public viewing.
The Bear Hill Elementary School bidding process is underway with contractor bids expected by June 9; the board will meet in July to consider award recommendations so the project can proceed. The administration also presented a prioritized list of district‑wide infrastructure needs for 2026: the full proposed scope was estimated at about $7.6 million, but the administration narrowed priorities such that the planned 2026 infrastructure budget is approximately $4.7 million.
Separately, the board announced the formation of a redistricting committee to begin the boundary work required when Bear Hill opens; Dr. Roberta Hotinski will chair the committee with members Kenneth Hong, Rachel Weil and Mary Anne Piccione. The committee's first meeting is scheduled for the district administrative offices the day after the May 27 meeting; Bear Hill Elementary is not scheduled to open until fall 2027.
