He described terrorism liaison officers (TLOs) embedded at local stations who can recognize indicators of terrorism and connect local observations to regional intelligence centers and the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). He said fusion centers collect and analyze intelligence from multiple sources and that the FBI-led JTTF will lead any complex terrorism investigation.
The lieutenant emphasized partnerships with federal and regional agencies and urged residents to report suspicious behavior through established channels, including the See Something, Say Something campaign and a regional reporting website (JREC). He told council members the public should not hesitate to report tips and that the sheriff’s office would follow up.
Council members asked whether the city could link to the JREC website from the city’s public safety web pages; the lieutenant said staff could add a link and that residents may also report directly to local deputies.
