The Wausau Board of Public Works voted May 20 to award the base bid and two alternates for repairs to the 25 Jefferson parking ramp to Masonry Restoration. The board approved the motion by voice vote after a staff recommendation.
Five bids were received for the project. City staff reported the low base bid was $526,890.50 from Masonry Restoration; two alternates that the board approved total $39,265. The motion as approved awards the base bid plus those two alternates to the low bidder. City staff explained that the contract was awarded to the low base bidder and that, if the budget allowed, that same contractor would receive the alternates.
The other bidders read into the record included Western Construction Group, Innovative Masonry Restoration and Saigon Restoration Systems. Specific dollar amounts for those other bids were read aloud during the meeting but were not confirmed in the motion. The board did not add conditions beyond awarding the base bid and the two alternates as presented.
The board moved and seconded the award and approved it by voice vote.
