The Tea Area School District 41-5 Board of Education approved a bundle of routine items and several standalone motions during its regular June meeting, while district staff presented a preliminary fiscal year 2026 budget for future consideration.
The board voted to approve the consent agenda and later moved a single bill for Pride Neon off the consent list for separate consideration. The Pride Neon invoice for $17.25 was approved after the board pulled the item so that board member Chad could abstain.
Other motions approved without extended discussion included acceptance of resignations as presented; confirmation of new hires; renewal of food-service vendor contracts with Panagold, Avera PACE, Prairie Farms and Performance Food Service; adoption of the district office summer hours (Monday–Thursday 07:30–16:30 year-round; Fridays 07:30–16:00 during the school year); and the board's recommended SDHSAA ballot positions.
Several motions were made with simple "So moved"/"Second" exchanges and the board chair called for voice votes. In each of the recorded votes the chair asked "All those in favor, say aye," and there was no recorded roll-call tally or individual vote log in the transcript beyond the single stated abstention on the Pride Neon bill.
The meeting also included presentations and discussion items not acted on tonight, including a preliminary FY26 budget and an extensive goal/scoreboard review across buildings and departments.
