George County Middle School reports steady benchmark results, rising referrals and enrollment losses

A school presenter told the George County School District board that George County Middle School has completed its third benchmark assessment cycle and that proficiency and growth figures are largely similar to earlier results, even as the school is addressing a drop in enrollment and a recent spike in disciplinary referrals.

The presenter, identified in the meeting as School administrator (Presenter), said the school’s benchmark outcomes track with prior measures and that staff have launched a short-term review of standards to push more students toward proficiency before the upcoming state test. "We have students who are withdrawing from school right now. They're withdrawing to get home. We have 28," the School administrator said when discussing student departures.
