At its meeting, the Alvin Independent School District Board of Trustees approved multiple consent and action items by unanimous votes, including a local policy update to the district—s capital-asset threshold, personnel hires, administrator contract extensions and the principal appointment at Shirley Brothers Elementary.
The board approved the consent agenda (items A through E) on a motion that carried 7-0. Trustee Scott moved the motion and Trustee Garza seconded; no roll-call breakdown by name was recorded beyond the announced 7-0 outcome.
The board then considered a recommended update to local policy CFB (local), which governs the district—s process for identifying and tracking capital assets. The update aligns district procedure with recently revised federal accounting guidelines and forthcoming Texas Education Agency guidance; it raises the district—s capitalization threshold from $5,000 to $10,000. Trustee Swinney made the motion to approve the update and Trustee Humbert seconded; the motion carried 7-0.
The board approved recommended employment actions for teachers and professional staff as presented. Trustee Dawson moved approval and Trustee Swinney seconded; the motion carried 7-0. Mals holds a bachelor—s degree from the University of North Texas and a master—s degree from the University of Houston-Victoria, and the board recorded the appointment on a motion by Trustee Scott and a second by Trustee Johnson; the motion carried 7-0.
All formal actions recorded at the meeting were approved by unanimous vote with no recorded oppositions or abstentions.
