William Bentley, a resident who said he lives at 1912 Evergreen Street and has used the recently added eight pickleball courts at Cody Park, thanked the commission for the courts and requested more maintenance in two areas: fall leaf removal at the four south courts, and earlier snow clearing when temperatures rise above 45 degrees so courts can be used.
Bentley said the courts are now separated by fences that cause leaf accumulation and create a slipping hazard when damp. He asked that the maintenance crew visit "maybe once a week" in the fall to remove leaves and that the city consider clearing snow when temperatures reliably rise above 45 degrees.
Bentley also raised a concern about responsiveness from the parks department. He said the parks director (by title) has not responded to voicemail or email inquiries and asked that responsiveness be included in the department director's performance appraisal—specifically, that staff respond to phone calls or emails within 24–48 hours.
The mayor replied that the comment about staff responsiveness should be taken up with the city manager and that it was not appropriate to discuss personnel matters on the record; staff follow-up was requested. Bentley said he did not name anyone individually, only the director by title.
No formal action was taken; public comment items are not acted on at the meeting but were forwarded for staff follow-up as appropriate.
