John Stiles described operational benefits: freeing roughly four hours of custodial time per day for one custodian in the demo building (Wilson), generating usage reports and allowing custodial staff to be redeployed to tasks that crews otherwise cannot reach during nightly shifts. Board members asked about cost and lifespan; staff said the lease covers the first four years and reported an approximate four-year lease total of $90,000. Lithium batteries were described as having an estimated 10-year lifespan, and the vendor's lease coverage includes mechanical support for the lease term.
Board members agreed to pilot one or two units and gather data (one board member said the district would run a year of data before broader rollout). The motion to approve the use and four-year lease was approved by roll call.
