The presentation, given by Sandy Aylesworth, Pacific director of NRDC s oceans division, and Bella Sullivan of NRDC s oceans team, outlined scientific reasons for the proposal and said the petition covers about 14.22 square miles of shoreline from Muscle Point to Brown's Beach. Aylesworth said the petition aims to "fill gaps in the network" identified by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's ten-year review and to strengthen climate resilience for species and habitats.
