The meeting included multiple awards and proclamations recognizing staff, volunteers and emergency responders.
Former Alderman Danny Feldmayer was recognized for 19 years of service; the board said it will place a plaque on a softball field in his name and allow him to select the field for dedication. Town officials presented a framed proclamation for Feldmayer’s service.
Town recorder Debbie Pickard received a proclamation commemorating 15 years of service to the town; the mayor proclaimed March 14 as “Debbie Pickard Day” and the town will hold a reception from 10 a.m. to noon that day.
Chief Rudolph and the fire department presented commendations for three Atoka Police Department officers who, on Feb. 13, 2025, responded to an unresponsive person not breathing, performed CPR and used an automatic external defibrillator (AED) to restore a pulse. A commendation letter from Bill Scott (Atoka Fire Department) cited the officers’ “extraordinary courage, professionalism, and life-saving skills.” Chief Rudolph said the individual was surviving and on the road to recovery; the board will hold a formal award ceremony at a later date. The fire department also presented “chief coins” to each officer in recognition of the life-saving event.
The board read a proclamation declaring April 2025 as National Child Abuse Prevention Month and praised the Carl Perkins Center for its work; Kayla Star, director of the Carl Perkins Center, thanked the town and said Tipton County served 82 severe-case children last fiscal year.
Provenance: Recognitions and proclamations were presented in the new-business/awards portion of the agenda and included presentations by Chief Rudolph and the Carl Perkins Center director.
