Heunen said the applicant’s narrative limited care to “infants under the age of 18” and staff confirmed the application was for six children, not the 12 referenced in a late letter.
Applicant Sabrina Dunn spoke to the commission and said, “I currently watch my blood related nephew in my home, and it's a really cute space,” and described her childcare experience and local contacts with IdahoSTARS and a licensed center. Neighbor Marlene Henry said she had no objection provided the operator remained limited to infants and asked to be notified if the business later proposed caring for older children; she also requested that clients use the provider’s driveway when turning around to avoid damage to adjacent drives.
Commission discussion noted the community need for childcare and the difficulty of finding commercial space, and commissioners agreed that limiting care to six children reduced noise and other concerns. The motion to approve case number 24‑11‑SUP included staff conditions and the added requirement that the applicant return for commission approval if the number of children would exceed six or if the ages served changed. The motion carried.
