Morgan City Council voted unanimously on March 11 to grant final acceptance of Pheasant Run subdivision phases 1 and 2, contingent on the developer paying $14,825 to fund correction of a detention pond and other subdivision fees.
Ty (city staff) told the council the subdivision infrastructure has been largely in place for about three years but minor items—fencing, sidewalk repairs and a low spot in the detention pond—remained unfinished. The city obtained a bid to correct the pond and will perform the work this spring once the developer pays the quoted amount. Ty said the city intends to improve the pond area above the minimum repair requirement, making it more park-like.
Tony (councilmember) moved to accept final acceptance for phases 1 and 2 "pending upon the developer paying the city amount owed for the Detention Basin. That amount is $14,825 and then another fees associated with the subdivision." Eric (councilmember) seconded. The motion passed with recorded “Aye” votes and was declared unanimous.
City staff said the city will receive and cash the developer's check before releasing escrow and that the work will be completed by the city to avoid waiting through the spring. The council directed staff to release escrow after confirming payment and to complete the pond and landscaping improvements.
