Tammy Plenian, identified by the mayor as present for the item, explained that the change is intended to prevent accessory buildings from being located in front of primary residences in some zones. Staff recommended additional time to draft the ordinance language because the version noticed for the meeting lacked the final ordinance text.
Councilmembers discussed whether to open and then table the hearing so that notified residents would have an opportunity to be present. There were no substantive public comments recorded specific to the amendment at this meeting. The motion to table the public hearing to April 8 was made and seconded; the council voted all ayes to table the item.
Staff said that when the ordinance is drafted and brought back it will be presented as a public hearing on the date certain, at which time the council will consider the ordinance language and any public testimony.
