Votes at a glance: Durant City Council approves consent items, CDBG citizen participation plan and other routine business

The Durant City Council completed a series of routine approvals in a single meeting.

At the start of its regular session the council approved a five-item consent agenda that included: regular meeting minutes from Feb. 11; special meeting minutes (date not specified in the record); budget supplements; a mayoral appointment recommending Cindy Ruehl to the Ron Cross Senior Activities Advisory Board; and an agreement with AirMedCare Network Group. A motion to approve the consent agenda passed and the clerk recorded a roll-call vote of yes from Council members Miller, Shear, Fuller, Vice Mayor Similescu and Mayor Martin Tucker.

The council also considered and approved the 2025 Citizen Participation Plan required for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications and project closeouts. Staff said an annual approved plan is required to maintain CDBG eligibility and that the plan’s only change from prior years is the year. A motion to approve item 4(b) passed on a roll-call vote with all councilors voting yes.

Separately, Mayor Martin Tucker read a proclamation declaring April 2025 as Fair Housing Month and designated the city planning director as the city's fair housing activities coordinator; the proclamation was presented during the meeting and recorded in the minutes.

Other routine actions recorded during the meeting included approval of meeting minutes by the Durant Airport Authority and the Durant City Utilities Authority during their brief, immediately adjourned sessions; each body approved its February 11 regular meeting minutes by roll call.
