Lewisburg swears in Russell Fuller as new fire chief

Russell Fuller then stood before the council and recited the oath for the office of fire chief in full: “I do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of North Carolina … and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of the fire chief.”
Council members and attendees applauded following the swearing-in. Interim leadership and staff present, including Captain Chase Womack who served as interim chief, remained on the dais; the mayor thanked Womack for his service during the transition.
Fuller was introduced as a Franklin County native with years of experience in the fire service. The council did not attach further conditions to the appointment during the March meeting. Any operational, budgetary, or policy changes under Fuller’s leadership would be subject to future council consideration and public notice.
