Northwest 20 Second Street stormwater improvements (ITB award) The commission awarded ITB 25-008 for stormwater improvements on Northwest 20 Second Street (an industrial/dead-end street) to DBF Construction LLC, the low responsive bidder. The project design calls for an exfiltration trench and collection system. The commission approved the award on roll call.
Friendship city affiliation with Terrasini, Italy (resolution) The commission approved a friendship-city affiliation with Terrasini (Sicily), a cultural-exchange action proposed by the city’s Sister Cities program. Staff said the affiliation supports student pen-pal programs, business outreach and a recently awarded scholarship to an FAU student for a semester study abroad. The commission voted to approve the resolution.
Senior Activity Center parking lot (ITB award) The commission awarded an ITB to DBF Construction LLC for construction of 33 new parking stalls and associated work for the city’s Senior Activity Center. Staff said the additional parking responds to previously expressed needs from center patrons. The commission approved the award on roll call.
Sewer/municipal vehicles (second reading of on-call/piggyback ordinance) The commission held a second reading and approved an ordinance authorizing piggyback purchases for certain municipal vehicles from an existing cooperative agreement. The measure passed on second reading.
Other routine items The commission also approved two second-reading items involving parking-lease/assignment agreements for downtown parcels and accepted a Florida Department of Transportation public transportation grant to expand a community micro-transit circular service (one-year FDOT grant matched by the city). Several appointments to advisory boards were also confirmed by resolution.
