The Sandy City Public Utilities Department recommended that the council consider appointing Daniel Schoenfeld to the Public Utilities Advisory Board as a regular member during an informational item at the March 11 meeting.
Tom Ward, the city’s public utilities director, told the council that Schoenfeld “has been participating in our public interest adviser advisory board for close to 2 years,” attends meetings regularly and has expressed interest in serving in a regular seat.
Daniel Schoenfeld, who joined the meeting virtually, told the council, “No. I just would like the opportunity to serve and, I’ve been a member as a citizen advisor, or citizen interested and happy to serve that, you would like, and would like the opportunity.”
The council did not take a vote on the appointment that night. Ward said the matter will return as a resolution for final consideration on a future agenda.
The informational presentation included no questions from councilmembers and no formal objections. Council chair Aaron DeKeyser thanked staff and indicated the appointment will be resolved at a later meeting.
No timeline or additional biography beyond Ward’s description was provided in the meeting record. The staff presentation noted Schoenfeld works for the state and that the Public Utilities Department has become familiar with his participation.
