Council approves McAlpin Road right‑of‑way purchase, continues several land use cases

Public‑hearing continuances: The council granted continuances or kept open public hearings for several zoning and development cases, including a 48.59‑acre single‑family residential PD request northeast of Ashford Lane and South Fourteenth Street and a 30.33‑acre community retail plan along West Main Street; applicants requested continuance to the March 25 meeting and council voted 4‑0 to continue those items.

McAlpin Road right‑of‑way purchase: After an executive session under Texas Government Code §551.072 (real‑estate deliberation), the council returned to open session and authorized the city manager to negotiate and execute an agreement with Richard E. Frosh to purchase a 0.598‑acre tract for public street right‑of‑way and general utility easement and a 0.053‑acre tract for a temporary construction easement, both tied to the McAlpin Road construction project. The purchase price in the motion was $66,650 plus payment of related closing costs; the motion passed 4‑0.
