The Euless City Council approved, on first and final reading, a specific use permit (SUP) allowing Sozo Full Gospel International Ministries to operate a place of worship at 1001 West Euless Boulevard in the Texas Highway 10 multi-use zoning district.
Planning staff said the applicant, Pastor Okoroba, intends to lease a 3,300-square-foot suite in a building that staff described as overparked; staff reported the congregation size at approximately 30 and said existing parking at the building is sufficient. The SUP is allowed in the Texas 10 zoning district with council approval. Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval 7–0 and staff recommended approval with conditions tying the permit to the business name and owner.
No public speakers appeared in favor or opposition during the hearing. Council member Price moved for approval and council member Tompkins seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Why it matters: The decision authorizes a new place of worship at a commercial location in the Texas 10 district; staff tied the permit to the business and the owner per standard conditions noted during the Planning and Zoning review.
The ordinance includes standard clauses for severability, penalty for violation, publication and effective date; the council welcomed the congregation to Euless.
