Quorum Court forwards emergency management reimbursement ordinance tied to Hurricane Milton response

The Pulaski County Quorum Court voted 15-0 to send Ordinance 25I15 to the full quorum court with a due-pass recommendation. The ordinance would amend the 2024'25 budget to recognize and appropriate reimbursement funds for the Office of Emergency Management.
Justice Stowers moved the measure. Emergency Management official Mr. Travis described the reimbursement as related to an Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) deployment during Hurricane Milton in October of the prior year. He said county rescue technicians worked alongside the Arkansas National Guard on hoist operations from Black Hawk and Lakota helicopters to respond to anticipated swift-water and flooding rescue operations; the State of Florida has already reimbursed the county for those expenses, and the ordinance would appropriate those funds back into county accounts.
Several justices thanked Mr. Travis for the department's work during emergencies. The committee asked no substantive questions beyond the explanation; a roll-call vote recorded 15 ayes. The ordinance will go to the full quorum court with a due-pass recommendation.
