District staff said administrators do not want dress code enforcement to keep children out of class and that middle schools maintain clothes closets to provide alternatives when necessary. The board discussed specific questions including belts, Apple Watches and medical needs; staff said devices needed for medical reasons would be accommodated.
A board member moved to adopt the dress code for middle schools, a second was recorded, and the board voted in favor.
Staff said they had solicited parent and principal input and that middle school principals had reviewed the draft.
