The Akron Budget and Finance Committee voted to place on the consent agenda and approve an ordinance authorizing the mayor or his designee to enter into a contract with CHW Advisors for professional consulting and state lobbying services totaling $108,000 for the coming year.
The measure, presented to the committee as part of the operating budget discussion, passed unanimously among the committee members present and was included on the meeting’s consent agenda.
Mister Wheeler, a staff presenter, said the proposed contract continues a partnership the city began under Mayor Horrigan about eight years ago and credited CHW Advisors with prior successes. Wheeler said the firm helped advocate for “5,500,000.0 for cascade” and worked on securing carve-outs and revenues for the traffic camera program. The ordinance declares an emergency and would fund CHW’s work at $108,000 over the next year.
Committee members had no extended debate on the item and moved it to the consent agenda. A motion for consent passed with all in favor and no recorded opposition.
The committee meeting included two budget-related items; members noted a town hall on the operating budget scheduled for tomorrow at ECLC starting at 5:00 p.m. The Budget and Finance Committee adjourned and the full council was scheduled to meet later in the evening at 6:30 p.m.
