Douglas County OKs one-year extension for Sterling Ranch filing 6A plat recordation

The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners on March 11 approved a one-year extension for recordation of the Sterling Ranch filing 6A first amendment plat, moving the deadline to March 12, 2026.

The extension request was presented by Brett Thomas of Douglas County Planning Services and by Kevin Jonk, director of engineering for Sterling Ranch Development Company. Thomas said the subdivision resolution permits a director to grant a one-year recordation extension and that the board may approve further extensions at a public meeting. Jonk told commissioners, "We, we have no, no presentation other than, just the request, for the extension to have, more time to determine, you know, what is the, you know, the correct, and, you know, the best use, for the property." No members of the public spoke for or against the request.

The staff recommendation noted that the director had earlier granted a one-year extension through March 12, 2025, and that the requested extension would be subject to the four original conditions of approval that remain attached to the previously approved final plat. A motion to approve the extension carried 3-0.

The extension preserves the applicant's ability to record the amended plat through March 12, 2026, under the original conditions; the staff report did not change or add conditions at the meeting.
