Oconee County school board approves five-year facility plan, fleet replacement and field-light upgrades; advances AP psychology for public review

The Oconee County Board of Education on March 10 approved a set of operational and capital items including its five-year facility plan, a vehicle (White Fleet) replacement cycle and competition-quality practice-field lights for Oconee County High School.

Facility-plan discussion

Board members asked staff to clarify the four categories on the five-year facility plan: additions, support spaces, renovations and modifications. Fred (district facilities staff) explained that "additions" are instructional units and that associated "support" spaces (corridors, restrooms, mechanical closets) are funded along with additions; "renovations" cover interior work such as paint, carpet and lighting; and "modifications" address infrastructure items such as roofs, kitchen equipment and HVAC.
