BOCC renews $2.63 million agreement with North Metro Community Services; director to retire

The Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement with North Metro Community Services in the amount of $2,630,698 to provide services for people with developmental disabilities in Adams County.
Nancy Duncan, Adams County budget and finance director, presented the item and explained the funding is supported in part by a dedicated 0.257 mill levy that flows into the county’s developmentally disabled fund. She said the county contracts annually with North Metro and sometimes provides additional fund‑balance support for capital needs such as vehicles.
Randy Brodersen, executive director of North Metro Community Services, addressed the board during public comment and thanked the commissioners for ongoing support. Brodersen said he expects state budget actions that could reduce funding and that the county contract helps fill gaps. He also announced he will retire next month and introduced George Montoya, North Metro’s chief operating and financial officer, who the North Metro board selected to become executive director effective April 11. "He will be the new face that you'll see up here, talking about our contract and such," Brodersen said.
Commissioners moved and seconded approval; the motion passed 5‑0.
The board recorded the vote as 5‑0 in favor of the $2,630,698 agreement. County staff said they will continue to work with North Metro and with Mr. Montoya following the leadership transition.
