Board opens public hearing on Lemont’s FY2026 operating budget; total appropriations listed at $37.4 million

The Village of Lemont Board of Trustees opened a public hearing March 8 on the proposed FY2026 annual operating budget, covering the period May 1, 2025 through April 30, 2026.
Darshana, speaking for village staff, said state statute requires the hearing be held so residents may comment and noted the budget was posted on the village website on Feb. 24. She gave the total appropriations figure as $37,400,000. Darshana also confirmed the budget was published in the local paper and that another public hearing will be held March 24 to provide further opportunity for comment.
After no members of the public came forward to comment on the budget at the March 8 hearing, trustees moved to close the hearing by voice vote.
No final budget adoption occurred at the March 8 meeting; trustees left the record open for additional public comment at the March 24 hearing.
