County facilities director reports progress on jail, expo arena and new admin building

The facilities presenter showed photos and reported that the south jail boiler installation is complete except for commissioning work. At the Wilco Expo West Arena site, crews have progressed on road work, backfill, structural beams and expanded parking. Staff said the pavilion at the Expo West complex will be named the Friendship Pavilion in reference to the historic Friendship township submerged by Granger Lake.
Demolition at the juvenile services center has begun; staff described removal of the old sally port and exterior demolition and showed images of the cleared front entry area. The jail gym remodel is underway with wall and ceiling demolition complete, rough plumbing in place and framing and ductwork to follow.
Work on the new county administration building continues; staff showed stairs being installed between the second and third floors and interior framing and drywall progress. The presenter said the building's target opening slipped from late winter to mid- to late-spring but remains within contract allowances.
Other facilities work included new bollards and lighting for security around the justice center, parking-lot repaving at Texas Avenue, and replacement fresh-air units. Staff said road-gap work and potential road-name changes remain in progress and will return to the court for future action.
Ending: Project managers said projects are progressing and staff will return with additional updates and any required contract or budget items; commissioners asked to be kept informed as timelines firm up.
