Senator Shelley Funke (Promoyer) (Senate District 24) told the committee the aviation, aerospace and logistics sector in the region is projected to be sizable and that the task force would bring legislators, Transportation Cabinet staff and industry representatives together to examine how the Commonwealth could attract new aviation technologies, including electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOLs). Rebecca Hartsoe Babbage, co‑founder for CVG Airport, testified in support and said the airport supports efforts to bolster the industry.
The committee treated the resolution as informational only; it was not voted on in committee because assignment and processing timelines did not allow for a formal vote. Representative Brooks asked that the task force consider local airspace classification questions for Louisville to ensure safety and operations are well aligned.
