The Hillsville Police Commission on Feb. 10 approved the Jan. 27 meeting minutes, authorized claims totaling $902.97, certified scores from the January 2025 hiring process, removed one applicant from the hiring list and noted the promotion of an officer to sergeant.
The presiding officer opened the meeting at 4:28 p.m. and asked for approval of the Jan. 27 minutes; a motion to approve was made and seconded and carried by voice vote. The commission then moved to approval of claims and approved $902.97 in claims after a motion and second, the chair said that the ayes had it.
The commission provided an update on probationary officers and field training and noted that Officer Jared Rodford was promoted to the rank of sergeant on Feb. 5, 2025. The body then voted to certify the scores for the January 2025 hiring process after a motion to accept the certified scores was made and seconded and passed by voice vote.
The commission considered its applicant list of four candidates and, following a motion and second, voted to remove applicant 24-15724-165 from the list; the motion carried by voice vote. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn, which passed by voice vote.
The commission noted its next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 24, 2025, at 4:15 p.m.
