Harriman official thanks county officers and inmate crew for work on new community outdoor learning center

Scott Mason, city manager for Harriman, told the Roane County Commission that the city's recently completed outdoor learning center and pavilion at the community splash pad was constructed largely by county officers and the inmate crew, saving grant dollars and expanding program capacity.
Mason said the outdoor learning center includes restroom facilities and a kitchen and will serve as a community gathering space adjacent to the splash pad. He expressly thanked Officer Sparks, Officer Treadway and the inmate crew for their work and said the city plans to replicate the structure at other parks using the same partnership model.
The remarks were delivered during the public-delegation portion of the meeting; commissioners did not take formal action in response to the presentation but acknowledged the city's appreciation.
