Roane County outlines grant strategy worth up to $3 million for Riley Creek upgrades

That funding would be used to address site priorities including septic systems, road improvements, potable water and electrical service, officials said. The county mayor said the timing for the NRDA grant application and for coordination of matching funds makes it necessary to finalize the overall budget before prioritizing individual projects.
Commissioners asked about timelines and were told that partners and contractors are preparing for upgrades; staff said multiple funding sources are involved and the county must confirm the full funding picture before issuing final project priorities.
No formal vote on the Riley Creek financing plan occurred at the meeting; commissioners requested continued updates and said they expect project scoping to follow grant award notices.
