Jaden (BLM representative) said the BLM has published Avenza maps that show travel designations for the Sanderville Swell and Sanderville Desert; he encouraged users to download the free Avenza map for accurate on‑route navigation. Jaden said Emery County GIS staff already have the travel‑management data but the county must update and publish the county map to reflect new route designations and land‑status changes.
Several members raised duplication of volunteer effort as a recurring problem: backcountry horsemen sometimes log out a trail that dedicated hunters later report as completed, creating confusion about who should be credited and where more work is needed. One volunteer said a pipeline trail was cut by a local riding group and then another group reported the same work, underscoring the need for centralized coordination.
Casey (trails coordinator) and other staff proposed a Google form or QR‑code intake that would let volunteers and partner groups submit project suggestions, photos and basic status updates rather than editing a shared spreadsheet directly. "That spreadsheet has been good for me, actually ... but I wonder if we had a form that everybody had, like, the link or the QR code to ... then it could create a sheet from there," Casey said. Casey offered to help set up an intake form and circulate contact information to partner groups.
Staff also reported a printing delay: the Forest Service sign shop has had multiple early retirements, which has slowed sign production and delayed some ordered signs. Committee members asked county IT and GIS staff to prioritize updating the county Avenza/printed map so trail users have consistent, current data.
The committee did not adopt a formal intake system at the meeting but directed staff to develop a shared form and a communications plan to reduce duplication and get updated maps into public distribution.
