Uintah County received a grant award from the Division of Outdoor Recreation to fund the county's off-highway-vehicle (OHV) trails coordinator position. County staff reported the Division awarded $142,346.88 to cover two years of salary for the trails coordinator, who plans and maintains trails, manages a seasonal trails crew and coordinates OHV events.
Staff clarified that, contrary to the packet language, the grant will cover about 90% of the coordinator's salary because the Division only funds OHV-related activities. The county's required match will be the coordinator's benefits as part of the full-time position. The contract term runs through Sept. 30, 2027. Staff said the contract had been electronically signed by Commissioner Larson on June 3 because the award was time-sensitive and staff wanted to avoid a funding gap.
A commissioner moved to ratify the contract; the motion passed by voice vote.
